Intentional Self|1_tdk8uelqtjnpx33riqvjja

During these unprecedented, crazy times, do you often feel there is not enough time in the day to accomplish all the things? Are you pressed for time from one project, meeting, or goal to the next? Is it difficult to juggle professional and personal life with an effective, happy balance? Do you feel overwhelmed, exhausted, spread too thin, or simply incapable? This is more common than you may think. This priority-juggling, time restraint obstacle has led to a dilemma called the Urgent vs Important Dilemma. I first heard of this seemingly paradoxical comparison in Dr. Stephen Covey’s book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

Covey writes…“ What is important is seldom urgent, and what is urgent is seldom important." He best explains and depicts the meaning of this matrix in a 4 quadrant format that highlights normal daily activities based on the level of importance and urgency.

Here is the kind of work that is typical for each quadrant:

Quadrant I:

Includes pressing issues that are time-sensitive or could be considered crisis status.

Quadrant II:

As Covey states this is where we normally and most optimally operate out of which includes relationships, planning, and new opportunities.

Quadrant III

Includes required tasks that require attention and energy but are not time-sensitive or critical.

Quadrant IV:

Includes unnecessary or fluff work and energy tasks. Learn more here. Use this simple tool to help you better prioritize your life so that time wasters seldomly happen and as a result, your life is lived with intention and impact.
