What Does Community Mean to You?

Wellbeing

To me, community means people who support your journey.

After living through a pandemic (and still living through it), I think many of us have appreciated how valuable community is in our daily lives. Having to social distance gave us newfound appreciation for interactions with our communities, from neighbors, coworkers, friends, and family to clubs and extracurricular groups.

My husband and I made a big move from New York to South Carolina 8 years ago. We knew no one initially, and it amazes me to reflect on how our lives have changed and become fuller since then. Three kids later, we have expanded our circles through schools and introductions our kids have inadvertently facilitated, as well as befriended neighbors and coworkers, become well known at the yoga studio, and even joined a “community group” at our local church, which functions as a smaller circle of people to meet weekly with and “do life with.”

All of these things have contributed greatly to our sense of belonging and life satisfaction. During the pandemic, these communities were jarred. We have all heard how much of the population’s mental health suffered as a result of the pandemic. In my personal experience, I craved the return of these communities in their original form.

Why am I mentioning this now?

This month in our blogs, we are putting the focus on participant success stories and rather than highlighting one particular participant, I would like to echo the feedback from many participants whose lives have been impacted and improved through their interactions with me via Wellview. They have voiced how having a community of support and accountability has made the difference for them in their journey. The beauty of having access to this in the workplace is that you spend so much time with your coworkers. If you can connect with even just one other person on a similar journey as you, it is another layer of accountability and support, in addition to regular sessions with Wellview providers.

Life is not meant to happen in a vacuum. Are you tired or overwhelmed by walking alone on your wellness journey? We are here to provide you with a community who want to help you achieve the best version of yourself. Please reach out if we can support you in any way!
