Ever thought about your life as a book?
Yes, a book. This is something I do frequently. A book has elements that when applied to your life, can be truly transformative. More specifically these elements are the title, the preface, the chapters, the main characters, morals of the story or life lessons, pivotal places, things, and events. So if I were to give you an hour of your day to write a synopsis of your life’s book thus far, what do you think it would look like? Let's find out!
My Book, My Life Exercise

Step one: Find a quiet, safe space where you can sit comfortably with your thoughts. Bring a pen and paper.Step two: Write on your paper the following questions in order:
- What would my preface or introduction of myself to the readers say about me?
- Where would my book begin, ie. chapter one?
- Is it important to offer the reader background knowledge or begin at a more pivotal transition in my life?
- What offers the reader a better glimpse into how I became who I am today?
- From here, what are the next chapters of my life?
- Of what or whom will these chapters be based upon?
- What are the most valuable and/or transitional times or events of my life to date? Why?
- Who has played a vital role in my life?
- What did he or she or they teach or do for me?
- Why was this so important?
- What is the moral or purpose of my life?
- What are my favorite mantras, quotes, or sayings?
- What are my most valuable lessons learned?
- Where have I been that shaped me to become who I am today and who I am becoming?
- Where have I traveled?
- Where have I lived?
Step three: Give yourself 20-30 minutes to answer your questions. Step four: Go back and circle the words that most stand out to you in your answers. These words will formulate a meaningful title to your life book. Step five: Choose your title.See that wasn't so hard.
